dear fellow worrier.

Today I was told the definition of the word {worry}.

It's not a word you'd feel inclined to look up, but it's definitely a description you may want to know.

To torment oneself with or suffer from disturbing thoughts; fret.

Ouch. Do you know that this is something that I do daily? Worry.

That means I torment myself. Literally, torment, torture, "beat up", drag-- myself with these disturbing thoughts.

For what?

Worrying is a learned behavior. We were not born with it, because why would our Heavenly Father give us something that would literally destroy us?

Dear Fellow Worrier,

It's okay to let go. It's okay to let God. I know the fear of losing that control. Of having complete faith in all the circumstances in our lives and the actual purpose of our life. It's okay.

Take those lies that you've stacked so tightly on your shoulders, one on top of the other, and grasp them, lay them at your feet, and walk away. It's okay.

Feel the release of "the heavy," and feel the freedom of "the light." It feels good, doesn't it?

Just be sure not to pick them back up. Why torment yourself with these over and over again? Why bruise your mind, your heart, your body, just to keep telling yourself the lie. That lie that "you've got this all on your own." Let go of that control, and feel the freedom of having Him do the heavy work for you. Trust.

Reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing; confidence.

Rely on Him. On His strength and His ability. He WILL get you through this day.

The lies are not worth the torture. You know the ones you tell yourself daily:

"I won't get through another day of this pain."

"I will never be good enough for them."

"How will we ever be able to pay those bills?"

"I'll never get this job."

"I'm failing at this whole mother thing."

"I'm failing at this whole wife thing."

"I failed, hence I am a failure."

"Will I ever find my purpose or fulfill my dreams?"

"Will I ever be enough?"

"What will they think?"

I could go on and on.

STOP.

Isaiah 26: 3-4

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you,

all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

Trust the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal rock.

So the next time your mind starts racing, and you begin to torment yourself once more with all the worry and all the lies, stop, look up, take a deep breath, and trust. Today is the present. It's the gift. Relish in the gift rather than the torment.

He's got you.
